South Carolina Financial Identity Fraud and Identity Theft Protection Act (FIFITPA) (S.C. Code Ann. § 39-1-90): This act primarily addresses data breach notification requirements. In the event of a "breach of the security of the system" involving unauthorized access to and acquisition of unencrypted or unredacted personal identifying information that compromises its security, confidentiality, or integrity, we are obligated to notify affected South Carolina residents "in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay."
